So last weekend, I drove even further south than I usually do... to visit Dan and his new apartment!
I drove down on a Thursday night. Friday he went to work, while I stayed back to do catch up on zzz's, homework, shop (couldn't help myself... he's so close to the town center and there were some really good sales), and then I ventured to Wally World to pick up a few things, including dinner ingredients.
I have to pause and tell you about my Waaahhlll-maaat experience. So south Florida is known for snow birds...mostly the more seasoned kind, if ya know what I mean. Well do not go into a Walmart in the middle of the day, unless you want to literally be trapped in a circle of seasoned snowbirds moving at super-turtle speed in a circle around you and your cart. The trip took as twice as long as it should have. Eventually I got out! I'm not sure if I have shared prior to this post, but I'm not the greatest chef... (my mom is, she tried to pass her knowledge and skills to me, but I would rather be riding my bike outside when I was younger). But, I'm now trying things out- Dan should be thankful for that or else he wouldn't have come home to a very yummy pasta dinner and salad. I should soon be posting about the deliciouso meal on my blog.
Saturday was great great fun! We drove a little ways even further south to visit Ikea! It was a treat for me because there is no Ikea in North Florida. My list of items included a new duvet cover and sheets for my new bed handed down to me by my mother. Dan knew he needed knives, a desk lamp and maybe a piece of wall art or photography. It was a great time to go because some things were on sale. After eating some Swedish Meatballs in the cafe, walked and daydreamed in the showrooms, we went huntin' for our stuff. Knives check. Desk Lamp check. Duvet Cover check.... (couldn't find it on the site, so I will link it later when I take a picture). Dan didn't find anything he liked for the wall, so he will wait. We did however pass by the decorative pillow section and thought about how plain and bland and white his living room is. So we grabbed a couple of throw pillows. I mentioned to Dan that unless the overhead light was on, the living room was pretty dim so as a home-warming gift, I "built-a-lamp", which meant I picked out a separate base and shade. My gift to him.
We were excited to pull the plastic off of everything and put it all together.
Living Room with new pillows (the red makes the red in the painting pop, its how we picked the pillow color) and there's the build-a-lamp over to the right. Looks so much more cozy.

Night time! Later that night, I was treated to a wonderful date. We went out to dinner and then planned to go to see No Strings Attached. We had a little gap between dinner and the movie so we killed times in Barnes and Noble, always a good time. The movie theater we went to was called The Palace. It's a Cinemark theater. I was first impressed that they had valet parking. Then we walked into the theater house to find that it was HUGE with a balcony. After searching outside to find the balcony stairs we gave up in fear of losing good spots on the floor and missing the show start. The movie was even better than I thought it would be, had us both laughing. :) We found the grand staircase as we were leaving. You apparently have to pay extra to go up because there is also an open bar up top! Maybe I don't get out much and I'm not an aficionado in the movie theater world, so the palace made the date even better. Sunday: After sleeping in and making another trip to Walmart, the remainder of the day was spent on the couch because of this purchase:
1. excuse the hair. 2. excuse the blurriness 3. We LOVE The Big Bang Theory! That's season 2. We're catching him up. He recently joined me on the Big Bang bandwagon. So ends a great weekend together. Monday... back to work and school and being apart... only by physical distance though.. of course!
